Prayer - Give Us Our Daily Bread (HP17)

When we come before God, we must try to understand His feelings for His church or flock. In this last days, our Lord had warned us of many false christs and false prophets misleading His sheep resulting in great falling away from the faith. It is also the time where the congregations heaped up false teachers to satisfy their itching ears with distorted truth and heresies.

He is indeed sad to see that many of His children are destined to damnation. We too should also be sadden with their failures to overcome the old man,  deceptions, sins, false teachings and heresies. We must pray for God's mercy, wisdom and empowering to help us bring them back into His light. Having pleased the Father with our concerns, anguishes and love for fellow brethren, and if our needs are still burdensome, we can then bring them before the Lord.

Mat 6:11   Give us this day our daily bread.

We come before the Lord to pray only for our daily basic needs (not for wealth, greed, riches, pleasures, etc. which He will give to us if only they are beneficial to us).

Mat 6:31-34    “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you."

Our Father comforted us that He knows of all our needs. He is more concerned with our salvation. He will meet all our needs all the time, once He is convinced that we are on the right path of establishing the Kingdom of God within us by making Him the King of our lives.

Philippians 4:11-14   Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Nevertheless you have done well that you shared in my distress.

We must be contented with whatever we have for these are His gifts to us. This will please the Father because this is the sign of our obedience and faith in Him.

1 Tim 6:6-9   Now godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition.
